TEXT Messaging SCAM

The Calaveras Superior Court has been made aware of an ongoing scam that uses fake text messages appearing to be sent by the Court or DMV that seek payment for unpaid traffic citations.

The Court and DMV does not and will not contact the public through text messages to make payments for traffic citations.

The public is cautioned not to provide financial or personal information If contacted via text or a phone call. The Court does not seek this information through texts or phone calls.

If you are unsure about having paid a traffic citation, please visit the Court’s website at Home | Superior Court of California | County of Calaveras and click on “Pay Fines.” From there, you will be directed to a site from which you may search and enter your corresponding information to see if there are any outstanding balances.

The Office of the Family Law Facilitator of the Superior Court of California in Calaveras County has been established to:

  • Help individuals who cannot afford to hire an attorney, to represent themselves in matters pertaining to child support, spousal support where child support is also an issue, health insurance and uncovered medical expenses of children or day care reimbursements;
  • Offer information, education materials, court forms and assistance with court procedures;
  • Prepare support schedules based upon statutory guidelines; and
  • Make referrals to other appropriate agencies
