Calaveras County to Launch CARE Act Program December 2, 2024
The Superior Court of Calaveras County will begin accepting petitions for the Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment (CARE) Court on December 2, 2024.
On September 14, 2022, Governor Newsom signed SB-1338 enacting the CARE Act. The Care Act creates a new pathway to deliver mental health and substance use disorder services to the most severely impaired Californians who often suffer in homelessness or incarceration without treatment. The CARE Act is intended to support people living with schizophrenia spectrum or other psychotic disorders by providing treatment, services, support and a housing plan.
